Dear Roger,
Hope the two lines below still work.
seRepositories(ind=1:2)
install.package('rgdal')
I looked at the folder 'http://www.stats.ox.uk/pub/RWin' and still find
Rgdal.07-8.tar.gz dated 18 January. I am wondering whether its kept
somewhere else.
I will try installing rgdal and report back to you later.
Thanks
ahmed

CRAN Extras now has versions of rgdal and rgeos built with Lion for R
2.15. It is fairly likely that these will work with [Snow] Leopard, but
because Apple has dropped the Leopard SDK, this cannot be guaranteed,
and
the risk of difficulties for Leopard users will increase as GDAL and
GEOS
are remade under Lion.
Please report back (possibly off-list) if the 2.15 CRAN Extras binary
packages work or do not work, with details of your OSX version.
Thanks again to Prof. Brian Ripley for his support!
