[R-sig-Geo] read MODIS image in HDF format

Have you seen the similar discussion on the list. Here is the link

Though, I found it is easier to do with NASA's Java based tool
http://eosweb.larc.nasa.gov/PRODOCS/misr/tools/geotiff_tool.html
But if you have ArcGIS. It can read directly and beautifully.
Also, You can use FWTools. with this link
