[R-sig-Geo] Kernel density based on a variable value

I am superimposing a kernel density plot on the US map (as per the suggestion
given in this thread:
http://r-sig-geo.2731867.n2.nabble.com/Kernel-density-plot-on-a-US-map-td6196265.html)

I have the latitude and longitude of each location in US. I also have a
variable Z whose value dictates the density. However, currently it appears
that the density is based only on the number of nearby values and not on the
absolute value of each point.

Is there any way to plot the density according to the value of a variable??

Thank you.

Ravi
