No, no vignette available, the best available guide at the root is from 
JTS:

http://www.vividsolutions.com/jts/bin/JTS%20Technical%20Specs.pdf

which was used in writing rgeos. This is on TODO lists, but not at the 
top, sorry; contributions gratefully received!
