An update:
Ok - now that I knew it wasn't the raster that had been 'downsampled', I
looked more closely at the points in R, using zoom() as Barry suggested, and
it is the point that is in the incorrect spot. A stupid, stupid error on my
part as I didn't update the X_COORDS after snapping them to the nearest
ocean (an adjustment I had to make for some foraging locs that, due to
resolution, fell slightly on land). Upon receiving the error and examining
the plot, it seemed obvious that the problem was the raster - and hence I
didn't examine the points. Crud. This is what happend when you rush things.
Thanks for the tip Barry - and for the zoom() function - very helpful!
Cheers,
Jenn
