[R-sig-Geo] Problem with writeOGR()

Thanks, that was it.
The problem comes from the csv input file having a column with "T"
from the utm zone (31T). Just setting:
 > gpsori1[,3]<-"T"

solves the problem and I can go on:
 > coordinates(gpsori1) <- cbind(gpsori1$UTM.East, gpsori1$UTM.North)
 > writeOGR(gpsori1, dsn="THOME20090729", layer="THOME20090729gps1",driver="ESRI 
Shapefile")
