[R-sig-Geo] depitting a DEM

Hi All,

i'm a grass user, for my study i need to depit a digital elevation model.
i'm not sure if in grass exists a module to depit digital elevation models 
(i see some filer functions like " r.mfilter.fp - Raster map matrix filter"  and  r.neighbors)

have you any hints, if already exists a procedure in R using its geostatistics ability?
