No, but you need the CVS version of rgdal too. The GRASS OGR plugin 
spuriously generates a third coordinate, so that its use in spgrass6, 
using rgdal (readOGR) led to a failure in a later script. The released 
versions of both packages are in sync, to have CVS spgrass6 work, use the 
CVS rgdal (sourceforge project rgdal, module rgdal).
