Dear Virgilio,

Thanks for the info.

I still do not mind if you would inform us, via the r-sig-geo mailing list, once the website is 90%
finished (the official launch). Again, I feel that for many the website (R scripts, datasets,
exercises) will be equally important as the book itself.

It would be even better if the website would support some interactivity (e.g. to post comments, see
the most popular scripts etc.; see e.g. http://geomorphometry.org/view_scripts.asp?id=6).

Looking forward (and congratulations on your book),

Tom Hengl

Hi,

It is good to see that the book has rised such interest... :)
We are not sure about the exact release date yet, but I believe
it should be in production now.

We are working on the web site at the moment and I am afraid that it is
not ready yet. The R scripts and figures are already there and the data sets
will come soon. We plan to have everything ready at http://www.asdar-book.org
in two or three weeks.

What you can see at http://www.bias-project.org.uk/asdar-book is a test
that I am doing to produce a web site from the book source files.
The final site may look different... hopefully, it will look better. :)
But the R scripts should run smoothly (there is no guarantee at the moment
though!).

Best regards,

Virgilio

P.S: If you have any other question about the book I would personally prefer to be contacted
off list for these issues (self-advertising is not pleasant...).

I forgot to mention - the book's website is already on-line:

http://www.bias-project.org.uk/asdar-book/

The datasets and R scripts are still missing, but I imagine it should all soon be there? (for me
personally, R scripts/datasets/examaples are equally important as the book itself)

cheers,

Tom

Hello,
I would like to get my hands on "Applied Spatial Data Analysis with R"
before I leave for summer vacation in the 2nd week of August (it
promises to be a great beach reading).

It is announced for the 25th of July, so I would like to know if this
is still publication date and what is the best vendor (e.g. at
Springer or Amazon or maybe the author directly?) to order?
I have made the experience that, in particular with new books, that
the vendor promises delivery within a few days but in fact needs weeks
before actually having it in stock.
To complicate things, I live in the Netherlands and not in the US.

Any thoughst on that vacation saving question?
Best,
Stefan
