[R-sig-Geo] hist2d with spatial data frame (slightly off-topic)

Hello,

still putting some efforts to be a better R/GRASS user!!! Hence this question is from a newbie.

I have several spatial dataset : grass raster imported in R ie a morphological classification and other raster data.
I have been testing hist2d to plot these variables. I am happy of the result. However I would like to be able to plot a legend for the color used to display the frequencies of occurences. Could any one help me on this one.
Also can anybody give me the parameters to use to display my own numbering along the axis.
