[R-sig-Geo] create a grid data

Dear R users-


I have a dataset that has X, Y and other values (Zs) attached to points 
(X,Y). To show a map of this dataset, a matrix of Zs should be created 
because I would like to use filled.contour function.

Is there any recommendation to go about this?
