I am pleased to announce the release of an improved version of the R
k-NNCH script (also known as LoCoH) that is included in adehabitat.
The k-NNCH method has a number advantages over other methods such as
kernel methods for finding a UD. It handles 'sharp' landscape features
(lakes, fences, etc.) well and generates density indicators.

This script has a number of improvements over the last version including:

* Generating homeranges for multiple k's.
* Correct plotting of isopleths containing holes.
* Optimisations for large data sets.
* Built in functions for dealing with shapefiles and textfiles.
* R tcl/tk GUI.
* A number of added helper functions and bug fixes.

This script has not yet been re-integrated into adehabitat as Clement
(the package maintainer) is on vacation until the end of August. When
he starts answering emails again, we hope to have it integrated. For
the moment, you can download the improved script at:

Additionally, this R script has been used as the basis for an ArcGIS
toolbox, and a web application. Please check out

Comments and suggestions for improvements are very welcomed and much desired.
