ISEC2020 is a family-friendly event - we plan to organise child care at the conference venue for anyone travelling with young children.

The first day of the conference is a Skills Showcase, with 90-minute introductory tutorials on deep learning, high-dimensional data visualisation, acoustics, spatial capture-recapture, multivariate analysis, hidden Markov models, point processes, and more.

Do you want to do some science while at the conference? We plan to organise lunchtime round-table discussions on topical issues, where each table takes a topic and works towards a plan for a paper they could write to address it. Outcomes will be reported to delegates in a plenary session, and paper plans will be submitted to Methods in Ecology and Evolution as an ISEC2020 Special Issue proposal. We are still accepting ideas for discussion topics at isec2020 using unsw.edu.au<mailto:isec2020 using unsw.edu.au>.

COVID-19 update: ISEC2020 will go ahead as planned. Chances of COVID-19 infection in Sydney are currently very small and the main issue at the moment is travel restrictions, with travel bans currently in place for those wishing to travel directly to Australia from China, South Korea or Iran. These details could change quickly so we are closely monitoring and will keep attendees posted. In the event that you register for ISEC2020 but are unable to come due to travel restrictions or medical reasons, COVID-19 or otherwise, you will be given a full refund.

See you in Sydney,
