Dear Mariano,

I don't have a book recommendation for you, but you might find this blog post by Bob O'Hara useful:

http://blogs.nature.com/boboh/2011/11/03/meta-analyses-in-ecology-and-evolution

He mentions a few R packages and provides a presentation which contains some good tips and pointers to papers.

e.g. Harrison, F. (2011) Getting started with meta-analysis. Methods in Ecology and Evolution 2:1–10 http://dx.doi.org/10.1111/j.2041-210X.2010.00056.x

Best wishes,
Owen
