[R-sig-eco] How to test the difference between fractions of variation based on bootstrap test in redundancy analysis in R ?

Sorry for bothering you!
When I prepared for a manuscript about variance partitioning of stream community data, I cited a wonderful paper
(Peres-Neto, P.R., et al. 2006 Variation partitioning of species data matrices: estimation and comparison of fractions. Ecology 87(10):2614-2625.), and the "adjusted R square" helps me much.
However, I realized that they conducted a bootstrap test for fractions, and the authors mentioned that the proportions of variation explained by each do not differ significantly from each other (P=0.4865, see Figure 6). At first, I did not know how to finish this procedure, therefore I asked for Google. After the visiting, I recognized that they used the MATLAB, and a related function has also been given (http://www.esapubs.org/archive/ecol/E087/158/suppl-2.htm). Unfortunately, I'm green to the MATLAB, but I use R usually.
My question is: how can I do this in R? If it is possible, could anyone please give me some hints (i.e., the corresponding R code for running this).
