[R-sig-dyn-mod] Compiled code with deSolve

I am trying to speed up a PDE dynamic simulation using compiled code with
the package deSolve.

 

Could someone advise what is the recommended way of passing matrices to, and
applying matrix operations within, the derivative function?

 

My application uses radial basis functions which can result in quite large
matrices for the spatial derivatives (500,000+ elements). For some
applications the matrices can be sparse.
