| Thank you, Dirk, that worked like a charm! Last couple of questions today:

| 1. If I will no longer use the image that has the old R and RStudio versions,

Please consider running a google query "how do I delete a docker image" or
consult a basic tutorial. In short you want 'docker rmi' here.

Please see my last email and its comment about 'sudo docker'.

| r-base:latest 182b915af647 897MB 0B

| 2. (A possibly very stupid question) If I have to log in with user and password
| of rstudio and yourpassword after running:
|
| docker run --rm -ti -e PASSWORD=yourpassword -p 8787:8787 rocker/rstudio
|
| then if I run:
|
| docker run --rm -ti -e PASSWORD=yourpassword -p 8787:8787 rocker/tidyverse
|
| do I have to log in with user and password of tidyverse and yourpassword?
I don't fully understand the question.
But I also don't use or author these two containers. Maybe consult the search
function at the GitHub repos for these containers made by my colleagues in
Rocker. The issue of password authentication has come up many times before.
| I can get lots of help with R around here, but zero help with docker, rocker,
| and Linux, so I really appreciate your help!
The list is for R on Debian. It it is not a Rocker list; I am happy to help with
the occassional and Debian-centric question but we generally recommend
brining Rocker questions to the Rocker issues. Preferably to the container in
question and not just 'general'.
Cheers, Dirk
