[R-sig-Debian] updating r-cran- packages on a new Ubuntu lucid system

Hi Dirk,

Thanks for explaining that you keep packages
installed by R and package managers in separate
directories.

Do you happen to have any advice on how to avoid
installing conflicting versions of the same
package?
