[R-sig-Debian] A newbee problem compiling R in ubuntu.

Did you reload after adding the repos, to make sure the packages in the new 
repos get listed? Or:
sudo apt-get update

I installed 2.10.1-2karmic0 showing up for r-base after adding the repos 
yesterday.  I prefer not to compile things if someone cleverer than me has 
done a package :-)
