I would recommend using Uwe's win-builder site,
http://win-builder.r-project.org, to build a Windows binary version of
a package. If you don't know what the win-builder site is, please do
check it out and avoid the need to install and work with the mingw32
package.
I find that the less contact I have with the Windows operating system,
the lower my blood pressure stays.
