Hello!

I have a Debian GNU/Linux on i386 platform with Oracle instant client to
connect to Oracle on Windows. Bellow is the prompt I get when I connect
to the with version numbers. I would like to connect to that database via
R. I found a way described in README.client of ROracle package i.e. I need
to compile ROracle on Linux machine with Oracle, but I do not have an access
to such machine.

Is there anyone out there who has compiled ROracle under i386 platform
(I have Intel(R) Celeron(R) M processor) and is willing to share the binary
package?

I just found out that Oracle has also and ODBC driver for client and I will
try to install it and then connect to Oracle via RODBC. Does anyone have
any comments on this approach? I will report what I have done.

Thank you very much in advance.
