[R-pkg-devel] NEWS.Rd and NEWS.md

Dear fellow R package developers,

While the tools::news() function only supports NEWS files in NEWS.Rd format or 
as a NEWS text file, CRAN supports NEWS.md files which get nicely displayed as

https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/<package>/news.html

What would be the recommended way to have both, NEWS.html on CRAN and a news 
file that can be displayed by the tools::news() function?
