[R-pkg-devel] Software ecosystems survey

Package developers,

I am acquainted with one of the authors of an interesting article on how software developers respond to, and manage, evolutionary changes in various multi-developer computing "ecosystems". The article has some preliminary results based on interviews with small numbers of developers in R/CRAN, Eclipse, and Node.js/npm. These three communities place different priorities regarding stability, access to end users, developer ease, etc.

The authors are now interested in expanding their study to more respondents and to more ecosystems. It seems to me that several members of this package-developer group might be interested in weighing-in and providing more reliable information on R package developers' culture.
