And for the archives: On reasonable OS's, the hidden
directory/folder containing all the info is
~/.rstudio-desktop/
and if "things are broken" the recommendation is to rename that
mv ~/.rstudio-desktop ~/backup-rstudio-desktop
and (zip and) send along with your e-mail to the experts for diagnosis.
