[R] [RODBC] ERROR: Could not SQLExecDirect

When i am running a *DELETE * query on MS SQL database  I am getting 
*[RODBC] ERROR: Could not SQLExecDirect * error. I am getting this error for
the DELETE query that requires more time.
Please suggest workarounds if any.
