[R] fonts not rendering during plot

If this happens to be on a Mac, it may mean your screen fonts are corrupt. You can see their names with: names(quartzFonts()). Using Fontbook.app will sometimes reveal that there are two copies of one of the screen graphics fonts and that one of them displays as blanks. These should be deleted with Fontbook.app.
