[R] Output of system() not shown in if

Hello,

I am using system(...) to invoke some unix commands. Everything is working
fine and the output of the programme
is returned to the R console. However, as soon as I put the system(...) call
into an if-clause the output is no longer
shown in the R console. Is there any workaround for that problem?
