Another approach:

foo <- function(t){
            bm <- ceiling(t/15)
            s <- cut(t,breaks=15*(0:bm),labels=1:bm)
            s <- as.numeric(levels(s)[s])
            t^(s+1)
}

This idea can be generalised .....
