In my Mac GUI there is a Workspace Browser but it's fairly limited in  
that it only lets you see the first level down for list objects. Most  
people use the str function for that purpose:

 > ddd <- list(a=list(b=list(c=list)))
 > str(ddd)
List of 1
  $ a:List of 1
   ..$ b:List of 1
   .. ..$ c:function (...)
