To get a reasonable solution, avoid coming near to x=0 and y=0. With
x >= 0.0001 and y >= 0.0001 constrOptim() can be called as follows:
constrOptim(c(0.25, 0.25), function(x) -log(x[1])-x[1]^2/x[2]^2, NULL,
matrix(c(-1,1,0, -1,0,1), 3, 2), c(-1, 0.0001, 0.0001))
