Assuming you are using a Windows based server have a look at
statconnWS at rcom.univie.ac.at
Warning: statconnWS is NOT open source.
It is under development, and it also will work under Linux in the future.
The statconnDCOM server also might be an option for you.
It is available from the same web site.
