[R] exponentiate elements of a whole matrix

What have you tried exactly? And with which version? This should work
with all R versions that I am familiar with, e.g.:
R> A <- matrix(c(2,2,3,4),2,2)
R> A
[,1] [,2]
[1,] 2 3
[2,] 2 4
R> B <- exp(A)
R> B
[,1] [,2]
[1,] 7.389056 20.08554
[2,] 7.389056 54.59815
