[R] can fda handle NA in y?

I have a matrix with 167 columns, each representing the y values of a functional.
There are a few scattered NA's in each column.
I have been unable to create a useful fd object with any of the functions in fda.
The resulting coefficients are all NA.
Is this a known limitation? Is there a workaround?
Thank you.
