I will be teaching a short course at the Midwest Biopharmaceutical
Statistics Workshop called "Predictive Modeling in R". The four hour
course is on Monday, May 24th.

The course covers modeling strategies where prediction is the main
goal (e.g. machine learning, pattern recognition, etc). R will be used
to demonstrate general techniques for data splitting, pre-processing,
resampling/cross-validation, model tuning and prediction. Four models
will be specifically discussed: classification trees, boosted trees,
support vector machines and partial least squares. If time allows,
there are additional modules on variable importance and parallel
processing algorithms.

The conference web site is http://www.mbswonline.com/
