[R] Rgui crashed on Windows XP Home

The error occurs in msvcrt.dll, a Microsoft dll.  It happened after a 
call from one of the R dlls, setting up the GUI.

I don't really know what to suggest to fix this, other than the usual 
things:  try running R with the --vanilla command line argument, try 
shutting down everything else on your system, etc.
