[R] extending an existing ts object

Try this:

> x <- ts(1:5); x
Time Series:
Start = 1
End = 5
Frequency = 1
[1] 1 2 3 4 5
> ts(c(x, 6), start = start(x), frequency = frequency(x))
Time Series:
Start = 1
End = 6
Frequency = 1
[1] 1 2 3 4 5 6
