Generally one assigns the resutlts of a function to an object name:
> ll <- test(1,2)
Warning message:
In return(x, y, z) : multi-argument returns are deprecated

$x
[1] 1 2
$y
[1] 2
$z
[1] 0.5

List of 3
$ x: int [1:2] 1 2
$ y: num 2
$ z: num 0.5
So you would not get the warnings if you instead ended the function
with:
return(list(x,y,z) )
