[R] stepwise linear regression, both sides, with limit

Hello,
I am totaly new to R, and I would like to know if there is a R package that
performs stepwise linear regression in the following way:
- both backwards and forwards like in S+
and
- being asked to put a number that tells until when to do the stepwise, like
in SPSS

I am not a statistician at all, but I need this to perform another method in
applied maths.
