[R] Sweave documents have corrupted double quotes

  I can't help except to say that I replicated the problem (but I'm
running exactly the same OS/R combination so maybe that's not too 
surprising.  Oddly enough upquote.sty says explicitly

     It does not affect \tt, \texttt, etc.

But that seems to be false.
