[R] reading in mdb and outputting to sql (GIS application)

You can modify your path on the fly with Sys.setenv:
Sys.setenv(PATH=paste(Sys.getenv('PATH'),'/sw/bin',sep=':'))
should make executables installed in /sw/bin available to R.
