bwplot(len ~ supp | factor(dose), data=ToothGrowth, layout=c(3,1))

# and some people like this:
require(Hmisc)
bwplot(supp ~ len | factor(dose), data=ToothGrowth, layout=c(3,1), 
panel=panel.bpplot, datadensity=TRUE)
