[R] read.dta error

I'm running on Ubuntu Hardy kernel  2.6.24-17-generic
R version 2.6.2 (2008-02-08)

I've actually already imported using Stat/Transfer. But if anyone
would like to explore this issue, I'll be happy to send them the STATA
file.
