[R] Problem in executing R on server

Perhaps I've misunderstood something.  You said you had trouble  
``executing R''.
I took this to mean that you couldn't get R to run at all (on the  
server).
Now I'm getting the impression that you start R, try to do a  
calculation,
and then get the ``cannot allocate'' error message.

Given this, Erik Iverson's advice about checking on the amount of RAM  
you have
is likely to give the must fruitful avenue of investigation.

In respect of the ``RData'' business:

(1) Please note that it's ``.RData'' NOT ``RData'' --- on unix/linux  
systems
files with names beginning in ``.'' are ``hidden''.

(2) If you start R in a directory containing no .RData file, and if  
you say
``n'' to the ``save workspace'' question when you exit from R, then  
there will
*still* be no .RData file when you finish.  Rather obviously, I  
should think.
