[R] function prop.trend.test (stats)

cochran-armitage trend test

Goes back to the Forties or Fifties. My copy or Statistical Methods in  
Medical Research describes it, gives a justification,  and cites:
Armitage (1955) "Tests for linear trends in proportions and  
frequencies." Biometrics, 11, 375-386.


My copy of Snedecor and Cochran simply describes it as a linear  
regression on proportions and cites Yates, Biometrika 32 (1948): 176
