[R] Exporting graphics: labels made with identify disappear

Hello,
The labels that I add to plots using the "identify" function disappear 
when I export or copy the graphics as metafiles.
Copying as bitmap keeps the labels in the plot but the quality of these 
graphics is much lower than that of the metafiles.

What may cause this problem? And how could it be solved? I'm using 
R2.6.2 under Windows XP.
No problems occur with elements added to the plot with e.g. "mtext" or 
"legend".
I was able to find one older post which reports a similar problem 
("after identify labels dissapear XP"),
but no solution was offered in that post.
