This is actually the 2nd time I have used the hammer analogy in this
thread (but it's cuter with a 3-year old involved).

If a hammer is dropped in an analogy and nobody responds, did it really
land on anyone's foot?  (my attempt at reference to trees falling in
forests not making noise)
