Dear Chris,
I use Python (http://www.python.org) in combination with Rpy
(http://rpy.sourceforge.net/). Rpy enables you to use R commands inside
Python, not the other way around. Works quite well, also for different R
versions (I currently run R 2.5.1 under Linux).
cheers,
Paul
