[R] configure error: --with-readline

[pd at titmouse2 ~]$ locate readline.so
/usr/lib/libreadline.so    <----------------
/usr/lib/libreadline.so.5
/usr/lib/libreadline.so.5.1
/usr/lib/python2.4/lib-dynload/readline.so

(R's build process is not looking in python's library directory.
Forcing it to do so is not the solution.) Besides, you likely do not
have the header files in /usr/include/readline (or so).

You need to install the readline-devel RPM as Brian told you.
