Reading the docs.

?scatterplot3d tells us:
"xlim, ylim, zlim: the x, y and z limits (min, max) of the plot. Note 
that setting enlarged limits may not work as exactly as expected (a 
known but unfixed bug). "

Due to the design, it is really hard to fix this one. Good patched are 
welcome, of course.
