[R] Tool for update

Is there a way to set a cron job to automatically update packages?
Maybe something like this:

$unixprompt> R --vanilla update.packages()

Alternately, is it possible to use the RSPython plugin to create a
cron job.  Effectively calling R and update.packages() from a python
script?
